Vol. I
No. 10 Changes In The Weather Mad River Musings See, I have been going through some enormous changes lately with my personal and professional life, with having a band, two jobs, a column, and the big one.. a child. Trying to juggle my life in accurate motion with a proper step by step process can get ugly sometimes Fortunately, change is as good as turning the page in a nice book. In my life that is good for me. The changes all have to do with the weather. I have noticed that the weather around Humboldt County has been really sporadic this last winter. I contribute my change to weather we have suffered through this last winter. For instance, at the height of our weather here in Humboldt County on New Year’s, my car had a tree limb fall on it. This pinnacle in weather was great contribution to the changes that came to before all of us here in Humboldt County. Now that we see clear skies, I do appreciate all those great storms. Call me crazy, but I think life cleans you out in so many different ways. Whether its sunshine or rain, it can motivate or determine your mood. But…as I get this cuppa’ joe I realize that changes in weather don’t always contribute to all your changes in your life. Now that the summer is getting near. I feel the strength of change again. What else out there in this awkward universe is going to make me have to rethink my plans or change things about myself I never knew. Its sounds exciting, I think I’ll go to Disneyland. Just Kidding. Really…what else in this dimension is contributing to the psychological changes so profound, that it manipulates all the surroundings in its indulgence? Maybe, it’s the Starbucks! Maybe it’s McDonalds! For me it’s the damned weather! Michael Tern is an artist, musician and Associate Editor for Calendar as well as an Arcata resident.
